Import
The Arnolt Bristol was the result of American, Italian, and English collaboration. Mr. Arnolt was an eccentric American enthusiast, industrialist and businessman who, through his MG distributorship, struck a deal with Italian coachbuilder Bertone to build 200 special bodies for the MG TC chassis, creating the MG Arnolt. Half way through the run, MG stopped building the TC and to make good on his deal with Bertone, Mr. Arnolt sought a different chassis on which to put Bertone bodies. Eventually, he agreed with Bristol to use a shortened 404 chassis along with the ex-BMW Bristol inline-6, and a very swoopy and all new open body to create the Arnolt Bristol. Available in both stripped Bolide and more equipped Deluxe versions, the Arnolt Bristol was well-received, and met with much club success in SCCA venues. Arnolt Bristols raced extensively throughout the late 1950`s and early 60`s with considerable success, including a 1st, 2nd and 4th in class at the 12 hours of Sebring. Offered here is a rare DeLuxe version of the Arnolt-Bristol that has just undergone a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration. Chassis number 404/X/3097 was built in mid 1954 and appears thave ended up in Guatamala in 1960. The car re-entered the States in 1973 where it was put into storage only to reappear in ****or**** around 2002 when it arrived in the UK as a ``barn-find`` project. Although complete, the car was in bad condition and indeed the engine was seized. All original hood, side screens and even the original tyres, which have been retained to go with the car. Now finished in Sage Green metallic with Green leather and carpets, the car is now 99% finished with only a few badges and catches being manufactured to complete the job. Offered with a full MOT, registered under the UK number 518 XUN and with all European taxes paid. With only about 75 examples still in existence, this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire one of these rare 1950``s sportscars.
