Calibra 2.5 V6 "Lumma" Cabriolet For Sale (1994) edit C102340 | | | Extremely rare 1994 Opel Calibra V6 "Cabrio" built by Lumma Design in Germany.
The Calibra was, and still is, one of the most aerodynamic production cars ever made. Based on the cancelled GM prototype, a handful of Calibra's went on to be professionally converted at great expense to create a truly stunning convertible.
This particular example which is in exceptional condition, was imported into the UK in 2008 and has covered only 56,000 miles. It has been carefully looked after, and still drives like a brand new car. It is fitted with an Irmscher wide arch bodykit and twin exhaust which gives a very distinctive look to this already stunning vehicle. The paintwork is purple over neptune turquoise which gives it a lovely purple green 'flip' effect in sunlight.
Not surprisingly, this car turns heads whereever it goes, and is a delight to drive. It features a fully stowable hood with electrically operated tonneau cover, front and rear electric windows, 17x8" alloy wheels, Irmscher wide arch bodykit, Toad Alarm and many other details unique to this vehicle.
The engine is the 2.5 V6 24v variant with 5 speed manual transmission, which is perfect for this type of car, and far more reliable and easier to maintain than its Turbo counterpart.
History includes receipts for the 45,000 DM's (£18,000) of conversion work carried out on the car in 1998. As part of its conversion, it has had all of the necessary strenghtening to reinforce the chassis where required. It has passed the required safety standards for road use, and is legally registered as a Convertible.
This is an exceptionally rare and stunning vehicle, and as far as is known, is the only professionally converted Calibra Cabriolet in the UK. There have been one or two home brewed attempts, but none come close to the level of craftsmanship and finish on this example.
The car has just had new rear shock absorbers, new front wipers, and a new twin exit rear exhaust system.
