1963 Daimler 250 V8 2.5 For Sale

Make: Daimler

Model: 250 V8

Year: 1963

Colour: Old English White Coachwork / Red Leather Interior

Car is absolutely solid underneath, on the underside of all doors and inside/ outside boot floor. A truly robust classic car, with extensive history and paperwork throughout its life.

Chassis and engine numbers all match from when it rolled off the production line.

I imported this Daimler 250 V8 from New Zealand in early 2018. It was sourced directly by myself from the owner, who had previously owned it for 10 years. In this time the car had a great deal of preventative work done to it, which makes it what it is today. The main work being a major gearbox overhaul, which you can feel the benefit of when driving her. I have a full breakdown, and receipt for this, which is quite detailed. The list goes on and on. It is showing 108k miles.

Built in the UK in 1963, and shipped straight out to NZ. Having been in the much more metal friendly climate of New Zealand’s North Island majority of its life, the condition of this car has to be seen to be believed. It has a tiny couple of surface bubbles on the drivers door, about 2-3 inches above the bottom, which you have to look at to really see them, and likewise a couple of pin heads on the boot lid, which are difficult to spot. That is me being fussy, but I like to be to the point when summarizing. The bodywork, as in the photos is truly stunning!

The underside of the car is absolutely rock solid, and is testament to the care this one has had throughout its life. It arrived with me in the UK wearing steel wheels, mated to 5-stud hubs, and garnished with metal hub caps. I did not think these did the beautiful lines of the body justice, so sourced a set of original Jaguar/ Daimler chrome wire spoke wheels. To fit these, I had to completely replace the 5-stud hubs, with centre spline hubs. These were purchased as a kit, brand new from the Jag Shop, Goldhawk Rd, London. Kit comprised of the four splines, all bearings, beautiful Daimler chrome centre spinners and a wooden fastening tool with correct mallet. I have kept all the tools to check the spinners, including a conical cleaning brush, and a fire extinguisher in a period suitcase in the boot. I have the original 5-stud wheels, plus all the hub components, which were removed. These will come with the car.

The wheels have correct size, brand new tyre’s, fitted with inner tube’s, as the spoked wheels require. The spare wheel is also a chrome spokey, with new tyre and inner tube fitted. Original Jack is present, with ratchet handle, which has been properly tested, and works exactly as it should.

Chrome work on the car really has lasted well. One of the rear bumper overiders has a bit of chrome lifted, but as it’s on the rear face, so it’s not immediately visible. All chrome round the doors is very shiny, and actually nice and easy to get a mirror finish, that will make you smile. All window winders, catches, door handles, bonnet & boot release and door lock’s all work perfectly.

Drives very well, with an excellent note from the stainless steel exhaust system.

Vehicle has satisfied all HMRC (NOVA) requirements, to which I can provide full documentation to verify. I have also fully registered it in the UK, with the DVLA, and have the V5 Logbook in my name, and the car is registered to my home address. It is MOT and Tax exempt, however it had a current WOF (NZ version of MOT) when I purchased it, which I also have in its folder of comprehensive paperwork. I have the original Daimler book pack, plastic wallet, and hand written sale book with first purchasers name all the way back in 1963, with the vehicle. These items were really important to me when sourcing the vehicle, and for me added to the historical footprint, almost the story of its life. I am more than happy to discuss aspects of work and maintenance which I’ve not mentioned over the phone (0-7-9-0-8 2-3-0-2-3-1)
