Imperial Two Door coupe For Sale (1955) edit C108897 | | | 1955 marked the first year of the “Imperial” as its own marque and the Newport was perhaps one of the most elegant designs to ever come out of that brand. The car was designed by Virgil Exner, who has designed many of the brands prototype show cars.
3418 of these fantastic coupes where built in 1955, though only about 100 still survive. From those 100 about 10 are in this condition.
This car received a full restoration taking 5 years to finish. The car is equipped with its original 331 cubic inch hemi and 2 speed Power Glide transmission.
The plating on the car alone was restored at a cost of over $20,000 and each factory spoke wheel at a cost $1,000.00 to rebuild and restore.
This is a stunning car that drives extraordinarily well. We have yet to find another for sale – anywhere.
