Stunning MGCGT SOLD (1970) | | | 1970 MGC GT
This MGCGT was first registered in 1st March 1970, and is therefore Road Tax Exempt. The history file is comprehensive from 1982 onwards, significant work being carried out in later years.
Approximately 11,000 miles ago the engine, drive train, suspension, steering and brakes were substantially overhauled and improved. This work was carried out by Doug Smith’s team at http://www.mgmotorsport.com. Doug is one of the mechanical gurus of MGC’s and has developed many engine, steering and suspension mods for these cars. He actively raced MGCs until comparatively recently, and was an extremely successful racer. So his engineering is race and rally proven.
The work carried out:
•Engine rebuilt to fast road spec (stage 2)
•Race/rally clutch fitted
•Competition spec Overdrive fitted
•Gearbox rebuilt
•Back axle rebuilt
•Up rated polybushed suspension and up rated shock absorbers
•Quick steering rack
•Up rated brake pads
In 2005 the car underwent a major bodywork restoration. This work was carried out by Peter Norris’s team at MGs Unlimited. The car was stripped back to the shell, all paint removed and new body panels fitted as needed (full photographic evidence). The car is finished in Rolls Royce Midnight Blue, with new Red Leather interior, new carpets, door cards and roof lining etc. The car is fitted with full length Webasto sunroof.
As the car was rebuilt new parts were fitted unless they were difficult to source. This list is not comprehensive but as an indication new parts as follows:
•wiring loom
•lights all round
•windscreen and drop glass
•chrome and bright work
•electronic ignition
•stainless steel exhaust
•stainless steel petrol tank
•door mirrors
•4 new Michelin 185/65 Tyres(6 weeks ago)
•Two new Brembo disc brakes(3weeks ago)
•Two new Girling callipers(3 weeks ago)
•New brake Girling servo (2 months ago)
The car is essentially as new, albeit probably now of higher build quality than originally manufactured, and has covered approximately 2000 miles since the restoration was completed.
