Karmann Ghia, RHD, fully restored award winner SOLD (1968) C113042 | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | | An original RHD UK car which has undergone a complete ‘body off’ restoration and rebuild over 4.5 years by the previous owner. There is a full photographic record of the restoration and receipts for all parts purchased.
The car has won several awards at VW shows and has been featured in ‘Ultra VW’ magazine.
The body was removed from the floor pan, restored, blasted and then painted in silver by a well respected classic car restorer. All rubbers and trim have been replaced and bumpers re-chromed to show standard.
The engine has been completely overhauled and rebuilt using new parts and now has 1600cc barrels and pistons. The interior has been fully retrimmed in grey cloth, new headlining, Newton Commercial carpet set and an original Empi GTV wood rimmed steering wheel.
The car has been lowered by approx 3 inches using an adjustable front beam (which is stock width) and altering the rear torsion bar settings. The wheels are the very rare 4.5 x 15 genuine Porsche Fuchs alloys on 175x55 Continental tyres. These 4.5 x 15 wheels were only made for one year and have the part number 901.361.012.01, ‘Fox head’ stamp on the rear , ‘heart shape’ around the valve and were professionally restored by a UK Porsche specialist.
The current MOT is valid until March 2010, and was serviced by an air-cooled VW specialist 2 two months ago. The asking price is £11,500 which reflects the quality of the car. I will consider lower offers without the Fuchs wheels.
