1951 Allard Special SOLD | | | Sold by Auto Classics NZ | | http://www.autoclassics.co.nz | Sydney Allard was a Ford Agent in London and first built “specials” for production trials before the war. After the war approximately 3000 sports and saloon cars were manufactured, all made out of Ford parts.
This particular Allard is a hybrid. The original car was a P1 saloon, 4 seater. The chassis was altered to same dimensions as the J2, which was the 2 seater sports car. A small block chevy 283ci, 4700cc was fitted, with a Mark 10 Jaguar independent back end which has a limited slip differential. It has GM inboard disc brakes.
This car is ideal for sprints and hillclimbs, and generally fun motoring.
The original car was imported into New Zealand from the UK and registered on 30 April 1952. It was vinned and re-registered on 22 September 2005.
