Cherished 280SL auto For Sale (1983) edit C113387 | | | Four owners in total. 126000 miles. My wife's second car for the last eleven years. Every MoT since 86. Original book pack including service book, numerous invoices etc. All keys.
In my wife's ownership, in addition to regular servicing to manufacturer's specification, this car has had, new radiator and water pump. Alternator. Brake discs all round. Fr/R shock absorbers. Exhaust system from downpipes back.New electric fuel pump. New sun visors. (Otherwise the interior, blue check, is orginal - and perfect, with MB overmats, new in '98). New Hood. The hardtop is excellent and the HRW still functions.
Allways garaged. This vehicle is exceptionally sound. Restoration to the underside has included rear suspension hangers. Earlier this year bodywork restoration was undertaken by Laurence Macbride Coachworks. Such superficial corrosion as existed was eliminated, and the correct 'Silver 735' re-applied.
Sitting on recent Kleber tyres of the correct size and specification, this car drives beautifully, and in 60000 miles, including several long continental journeys, it has never missed a beat. Oil consumption remains well within 'factory' parameters, and driven sensibly it will return 26/7 mpg day in day out.
We hope and trust this car will find an owner who will appreciate it - and hopefully look after it for the next 26 years of it's life!
