Lanchester Sports-Saloon For Sale (1936)

This 4-light sports saloon is believed to be one of only 2 such Lanchesters built. The other Lanchester 18 was built for the Duke of York (crowned King George VI in 1937) also in 1936, although that car is now in need of total restoration.
This Lanchester 18 shown here though, is in beautiful condition and is on-the-road, ready to be driven. It has aluminium coachwork of the highest quality. The paintwork is finished in burgundy, with a gold coach-line. The 4/5 seat interior is all in red, original leather, designed in the Art Deco style. It has a folding sun-roof of large proportions, more than twice the size of other cars.
The engine is a 2 1/2 litre, 6-cylinder, overhead valve, detachable cylinder head unit and is quiet and powerful. It is attached to 4-speed, pre-select gearbox, allowing easy operation and efficiency. Wire-spoked, centre-lock wheels are fitted to the under-slung rear axle, which permits a flat floor and maximum space for all the occupants.
This Lanchester is MOT tested and taxed. It starts and runs well, has light steering, fantastic servo-assisted brakes and many other luxury fittings. A spare engine, gearbox and parts, plus manuals, handbooks and press reports are included in its sale.
