FIAT 500L For Sale (1972) edit C113709 | | | 1972 Fiat 500L - Conversion
This car has been 100% restored, it has had many new panels and I have a full photo build log of the restoration.
It is a pre 1973 car and therefore is road tax free.
It has 10 months MOT and has just had a new alternator and the carb has been tuned and set up.
It has a Fiat 126 – Abarth type 5 speed gearbox with 126 BIS crown wheel and pinion for a taller ratio final drive.
As you can see it has had the benefit of an engine conversion and now has an all alloy water cooled 850cc Reliant Kitten engine fitted via a special custom made adapter plate. This has upped the power from the original 18bhp nearly 50bhp. These engines are superb and have been the main stay of 750 club racing for years (there are loads of tuned ones around that would take the power up to 75bhp+ easily on twin Sus). This new engine has been rebuilt and is in standard tune with a 1 ¼ SU carb. The conversion has been done very well and if required would be very easy to put back to original.
Every thing on the car was reconditioned when restored and it has done only a few thousand miles since. It also benefits from having disc brakes at the front and Fiat 126 drums at the rear and stiffer suspension too.
It has a front mounted radiator as well as a small rear one. The front one sits behind the front panel and not in the front spoiler. The spoiler could be removed fairly easily (as could the rear bumper sections) if required for originality purposes as it is a separate moulding to the flared arches even though it looks as if it’s not. I had a quote of just a few hundred pounds to have the re-spray work done.
I have set the price at a genuinely realistic price, this 500 cost well over £8000 to buy build, restore and convert. I am only selling it to fund my return to my studies, if I could I would love to keep, but hey that’s life! Viewing welcome. Thanks for looking.
