Mercedes-Benz W123 with 5.6-litre S-Class V8! For Sale (1985) edit C114368 | | | After a remarkable amount of work, parts and money, my W123 Mercedes-Benz now has a W123 560SEL 5.6-litre V8 installed, has recently been re-finished in its original anthracite hue and is up for sale.
The car's been magazine featured more times than I've had hot dinners - and I like a hot dinner - and can be found regularly in the pages of Practical Classics magazine, where I work as a journo.
Too much has gone into the car to be listed here, but here are some highlights:
- Full professional re-spray.
- Engine conversion work was carried out by MB V8 Conversions.
- Full electric s-class leather interior.
- Nearly every mechanical component's been replaced.
- Lowered Spax suspension.
- Decent ICE.
- Electric windows all-round.
- Rare chrome switchgear.
- Kenlowe electric fan.
- Ceramic coated exhaust manifolds.
- Mirror-polished custom stainless exhaust system.
- It goes really fast.
BUT there are a few niggles left for its new owner to sort.
- Its remote central locking has failed (although this may be a fusing issue).
- Driveshafts are both clattery (two new 'uns are included in the sale).
- There's no parcel shelf.
- The four-speed auto is a little slow.
- The rear seats are scruffy.
- It runs a bit rich.
