The body has no rust and no filler or bondo. Floor pans are solid as are the rocker panels, quarters, doors, and frame. The only non-period-correct part is the instrument cluster which is from a 66, though a correct 65 cluster can be provided upon purchase.
Base coat clear coat Twilight Turquoise Metallic paint is new and shows very well. Front and rear bumpers are new as are the front and rear skirts. Exhaust system is new as well as the correct tail pipe trumpets that protrude beyond the rear skirt - shown separately and not installed at time photos were taken.
The interior of this car is remarkably nice. Front seats have been reupholstered with new padding and springs. Rear fold-down seat is original and in like-new condition. Even the seat hinge has no rust on it. Headliner was removed when the car was repainted and needs to be replaced. Carpet is new, as are door panels and kick panels.
Also new are the gas tank and fuel lines, brakes and brake lines. Wheels on the car are not original, but were an option for this car in 65.
This car is in stunning condition, though needs a few things to finish it off. In addition to the headliner, the car could use new weather-stripping around the doors and on the windows. The dash is nice, though if you want a dash to look new, the instruments cluster will need refurbishing. The front grille is original and unrestored so is a little dull. The original tinted glass has some scratches and some of the chrome and polished aluminum window trim is beginning to dull and show some pitting. Needs rocker panel trim chrome.
The dash pad is wavy also on the driver’s side. It is not split. Some will love the originality of the dash pad and others will replace it instantly. Buyer’s choice. Like a good diamond it has its flaws, but it’s still a desirable gem.
The 289 engine in this fastback is powerful and smooth with original air cleaner and original rebuilt 2BBL carb. Starts on the turn of a key. Engine bay is very clean and with unmolested shock towers. New battery. Transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and for a 289 gets up and goes without hesitation.
Previously owned and driven for the better part of 17 years by a woman who used the car regularly and only sold the car when she finally stopped driving it.
