1976 Mk II Ford Capri For Sale edit C117745 | | |
This is a beautiful 1976 Ford Capri MkII 1600 L. (1600cc) It was resprayed the orginal colour quite recently by a previous owner, I believe. The body work is almost immaculate, I had a good look to see if I could find even a spot of rust, and I only found that of about a fingernail or two of very slight bubbling around the rear windscreen. It has a custom black leather interior with "Capri" stiched into the front seats; which looks sweet! I has an MOT until May '10.
The engine has an unleaded head off of a slightly newer pinto which was fitted due to a cambelt snap and the old head assumed to be damaged. On closer inspection the old head seemed to be ok, so you are welcome to that too if you want it! You are also welcome to the rest of the block from which the unleaded head came from. Incase you were wondering it averages around 27-30MPG. Runs nice and smoothly. 98,000 miles and I have some past MOTs and reciepts and believe this to be genuine.
Right now the negatives:
The speedo and other gauges'lights don't work. They used to, but one day they just went out and despite hours of staring at them and wishful thinking, they still won't come back on!
Second gear is a bit tempermental, it's fine going up the gears, but, if you shift down into it and don't accelerate it "pops out".
The water pump can also be a bit noisey sometimes and makes a sound somewhere between a rattle and a whine.
The heater element works, but the blower does not work.
The rear demister power cable keeps falling off so I don't know if this works or not.
The temperature gauge doesn't work, apparently this is ust the sensor.
The wipers do not work atm. They were working fine, stopped, and after some fiddling with the stalk they worked fine for a few weeks and have now again stopped mysteriously.
Finally, now they temperature has dropped a bit, it is a bit slower to start after 5 minutes driving it runs lovely and smooth though, I think this is due to the carburetor needing a tune up, nothing major.
Although it needs some TLC electrically and mechanically, the interior and exterior more than make up for it and it has a MOT so all you need is tax and insurance away you go.
