Sunbeam Talbot Alpine SOLD (1953) | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | This classic Sunbeam car was originally manufactured in late 1953 and used as a Rootes show car hence some of the unusual chrome fittings, in boot and engine bay, before being sold to an Army Colonel and first registered on 25th of August 1954.
The car has only had two previous owners with the second owner for twenty years, a STAR club member whom I bought the car from.
This year’s rallies included the excellent Rootes gathering at the Silverstone classic in July, where we were invited to take the Alpine onto the circuit for a few laps.
Being designed for distance touring, the Alpine easily carries all our camping equipment. At some time during its first ownership the car was fitted with a Rootes four speed floor change gearbox plus overdrive, all in working order, with the overdrive making long distance touring a breeze. The folding vinyl roof is in good condition without tears and is normally stowed away as the car has only summer use, although the car is not concourse it is very usable and reliable.
