Tax-free Stag for Restoration For Sale (1972) edit C118612 | | | First registered March 1973, but I have a BMIHT certificate confirming date of manufacture as December 1972, so its tax-free. Bought by second owner (me) in March 1989 at about 68,000 miles. It now shows just over 77,000 miles, and has been in dry storage since 2001, when I took it off the road to replace the front outriggers and the wheel arches, which I had previously bodged with filler (as they are not MOT-fail items). It's currently on SORN. Over the years I have rebuilt the engine (new pistons, bearings, timing chains, seals etc) and BW35 auto-box, which now works nicely. The brakes were rebuilt with new seals, hoses, pads, discs, pipework etc, and the suspension refreshed with new dampers, balljoints and bushes. The interior is clean, with excellent seats. The soft-top is the 25 yer old original, and really needs replacing. There is a hard-top but its a bit frilly around the edges. On the plus side the main body/chassis unit is sound, and replacing the rusty panels will make the ideal winter project. I have the original steel wheels and trims.
