HIGH SPECIFICATION 190E 2.6 AUTO - CLASSIC W201 For Sale (1988) edit C119901 | | | My high-specification 190e 2.6 auto is for sale. This model has the unbreakable 2.6 litre 6-cylinder 103 engine and it is considered to be “the finest incarnation of a very good car - engine good for 350,000 miles” (quote from http://www.honestjohn.co.uk (click on car-by-car and select this car from the options)). This together with the car’s very high original specification must make it one of the best equipped available.
The car was first registered on 20th. April 1988 and is a Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6 automatic finished in blue black metallic paintwork with blue leather upholstery. Additionally, the car was specified with:
o Air conditioning
o Alloy wheels
o An electrically operated sliding and tilting sunroof
o Blaupunkt Cambridge radio cassette player
o Boston Acoustic speakers
o Central locking
o Electric front windows
o Electrically heated front seats
o Headlamp washers and wipers
o Leather upholstery
o Remote control scorpion alarm system
The car drives perfectly starting first time and pulling smoothly through all the gears - it’s a delight to drive. Everything works correctly with the exception of: the trip meter is stuck although the odometer works correctly, the electric aerial doesn't retract, and the air conditioning needs recharging. The car’s structure and bodywork are rock solid and there’s no rust to be found anywhere.
The car comes with all of the old MOT certificates, most of the old tax discs, some service history, the original Mercedes-Benz sales brochure together with the Technical Data Sheets. There is also some sales invoices and other historical paperwork including an Experian Vehicle Check Report dated 24th may 2009 showing ‘all clear’.
The car has just completed 138,000 miles and is a classic in everyday use. It’s fitted with fairly new Firestone ‘fuel saver’ tyres and has regular engine oil changes. The Road Tax is valid until march 2010 and the MOT is valid until 23rd. January 2010.
