TR3A with overdrive original UK car SOLD (1960) | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | 1960 original UK car. I am offering this as an EXCHANGE for a good quality 1930s saloon or sports saloon, either on its own or with a 1934 Morris Minor 2 seat tourer I am also advertising at present. This TR3A has overdrive with a recent reconditioned gearbox, rack and pinion steering, Kenlowe fan, alternator with narrow belt conversion, oil cooler and spin on filter conversion, electronic ignition, Minilite wheels, big bore stainless steel exhaust, Moto -Lita steering wheel, sports seats and was the subject of an extensive photographed restoration 10-12 years ago with copious quantities of bills. It must also have a fast road cam (I suspect) as it comes "on cam" about 3000 revs. The chassis of the car is in very good order in very sound clean condition. It is only the paintwork which is now in need of some attention, due, I suspect, to the car having been enjoyed for driving over the past ten years. I am happy to send you additional photos of the paintwork in order that you can see it in more detail for yourselves.I have had a look at the photos I have placed on this site and they do not enlarge sufficiently to enable you to see what the bodywork is exactly like. However, it is only by seeing the car in the metal that you can decide whether this is the car for you. The car could run for a considerable while as it stands but if it had a complete respray then it would make a superb package with all the features it has. There is also a drip from the rear main bearing oil seal which I believe is a common failing of these cars. I suspect it probably will have had a new lip type seal fitted but they don't last for ever, obviously. The hood is in good condition, as is the tonneau cover and the sidescreens. The doors close well without the sidescreens but there is a bit of drop when the sidescreens are on, hardly surprising when you consider the weight of the screens. Some spares will be included such as gasket sets and similar useful small bits. The car is MOTd to the 10th of August 2010 and comes with a current free tax disc to the end of April 2010. It maintains very good oil pressure and shows no signs of overheating. The original registration as shown on the photos is included with a correct V5C and the original Standard build sheet is included.
I do have several cars and now find I am one garage short in the longer term for their storage. However, I am also one car short in my little collection, namely a 10 - 14 hp saloon or sports saloon from about 1936-48. I am looking particularly for a P2 Rover but will consider something of similar size, possibly a good RMA or early pre spatted RME Riley. As I mentioned above, I could really do with having two cars less and one in their place so the little Morris is up for grabs too. You will find it advertised separately on this same site. I will exchange one or both for an interesting replacement. I am located near Dumfries which is in the very South of Scotland, about 30 minutes from Carlisle. Thank you.
