BMW 320 E21 - Stunning Modern Classic For Sale (1982) edit C121690 | | | Due to a work / house move from the Kent countryside to London I am reluctantly selling my beloved BMW E21 – I just won’t get to use the car in town so I’d rather see it go to a good home rather than risk being stolen / vandalised / left to rust at the side of the road.
In April ’09 the car was serviced where the rear brake cylinder and brake pipe were replaced. The car sailed through its MOT with no problems at all. MOT until mid-May 2010. Recently put 6 months road tax on the car.
The car has 45k miles on the clock which I believe to be genuine – the paperwork I have for the car (some old bills and MOT’s), along with its condition, does support this although I can’t be 100%.
I bought the car from an avid BMW collector who had it for over 5 years and took very good care of it with regular servicing, wax oiling plus he always kept it garaged. As a result, the bodywork is stunning with only a couple of small bubbles on the front panels under the paint but hardly noticeable.
There are one or two small scratches here and there (I think from the neighbours’ cat!) but these aren’t deep and could easily be polished out by a professional although I’m sure an average DIY-er could remedy these without too many problems. To be honest, for a near 30 year old car these things are very minor.
The car runs extremely well – the gears work great and the kick-down is smooth and solid. The steering is crisp and responsive, just a pleasure to drive. The brakes are fantastic too - I’ve just had the discs and pads changed (July ’09) which has made all the difference to the cars performance.
The car turns over first turn of the key and has never once let me down even in damp or frosty conditions. The car needs 100 yards or so to warm up but then it’ll idle all day long without overheating – very reliable.
The interior is in very good condition with only minor wear to the drivers’ seat. The passenger seat and rear seats are in very good order as is the footwell upholstery. The passenger side door card has a small tear in the left corner which could be stitched / glued - I only noticed it today so unsure how long it’s been there as when the door is closed you can’t see it.
The alloys are A1 with no scuff marks or parking damage and they look fantastic, really setting off the stunning bodywork.
The tool kit in the boot is virtually complete with only one item missing.
All of the electrics work as they should although the dashboard bulb needs replacing.
The car comes with a classic silver radio cassette player although I’m not sure if this is original. The radio works fine but I haven’t tested the tape deck as I don’t own any tapes.
There’s a tilt and slide sunroof which operates as it should.
I have the original Haynes manual and BMW owners’ manual.
I work from home so you can view / test drive the car whenever is convenient.
