Triumph Herald Estate 13/60 - 2 owners SOLD (1971) | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | First registered in Jan 1971. Two owners from new.
I bought the car in November 1981 from its first owner. It had done about 32,500 miles. It had been kept in a dry garage and not driven much for the previous 7 years. We waxoyled as much as we could (not the roof as this would have entailed removing the headlining), but more or less everywhere else.
Current mileage 111, 000
Original engine reconditioned at 93,474 miles in 1995.
Fuel – unleaded petrol (small device fitted to petrol intake)
Roof restoration in April 2001
Restoration in July 2002 included 2 new doors, bonnet rebuilt, wheel arches and bumpers.
Stainless steel exhaust.
Front footwells welded in 2007
Reconditioned gearbox April 2009
MOT until 29.01.10
Car running well. Bodywork mostly excellent, but roof and four corner pillars need further attention. Rear wheel arches also need some work. Car contains no 'filler'. Internally seats are very good, but carpet needs replacing.
Reasons for sale: I needed a more modern, practical car, which my 16 year old could learn to drive on. Living in a city with limited parking and doing a minimal mileage it does not make sense to run two cars. Also, I would really need to be able to garage it to warrant doing further work.
