Sunbeam Alpine IV 1600cc SOLD (1964) | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | I bought this mark IV, 1600cc version of the Sunbeam Alpine from a garage in Aberdeen where it had been traded in. Having contacted the previous owner he was able to tell me that he’d bought it from an engineer/mechanic who rebuilt the body in 1994 all receipts for body panels and trim come with the car that has a good history file, which also contains workshop manual and original owners handbook.
The car started its life as a Diplomats car in Gibraltar in 1964 and this could explain the rust free condition of the underside, which is exceptionally clean. I got the car re-sprayed at the end of the summer and she now looks great in a bright white with the black vinyl roof. There is a tanneau cover, which also comes with the car. The interior has been re-trimmed in red and is complemented with a good set of red carpets.
The boot area is exceptionally clean and the original jack and wheel brace are also present. A set of genuine Minilite wheels and Goodyear tyres have been fitted which sets the car off. The oil pressure is very good and the car drives very well could possibly do with a little tune up but I’ll get that sorted soon. A stainless steel exhaust has been fitted and there are a few spares with the car (little bits that came with her). There is MOT until April and a lot of road tax which is free.

This is a genuine little car that needs to be appreciated and driven, it’s not concours but it looks good and sounds great, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I live in Northern Ireland and would be willing to meet anyone at either of the airports or Belfast harbour.
