Original Abarth 595 racing car SOLD (1964) | | | Extremely rare and seldom available 1964 Fiat Abarth 595 D Racing Car. Originally purchased and subsequently campaigned at various Italian stradale/corsa competition events in the 1960’s by a Mr Giancarlo Tosini. This car is mentioned as being owned by Tosini on page 138 of the widely acknowledged bible “Abarth 595 695” by Elvio Deganello and Renato Donati. The stamped when exported in 2004 to the UK, Italian paperwork that accompanies the car shows Tosini as owning the car together with the original Trento registration number (TN100149) which in turn ties this to the posted chassis number on the document /car. Also with the car comes the original 60’s Italian Trento TN100149 number plates. Car is registered and fully legal in the UK.
Body is in outstanding and totally rust free/arrow straight with no signs of filler or track damage. Sills/floors and doors are all amazingly as new and utterly crisp . Has original works rolled corrosion free arches to clear the wider wheels. Car is very eligible and has competed/ exhibited at several European events in recent years . Car has benefited from a full suspension rebuild with competition adjustable shocks/dampers etc. Interior is excellent throughout with the correct fittings for a ‘64 suicide door 500. Aside from being the legend that is the Abarth 595 one must also remember that this machine is based on the infinitely more collectable 500 D. They on their own are a charming and a vastly superior jewel of a motor car. The D displays and is generally noted for the delicate alloy exterior styling touches that the latter F’s, L’s and R’s came to lose through Fiats subsequent cost cutting. Plus of course those iconic suicide doors. With its extra power one can keep up with modern traffic easily and it needs nothing. Less really is more. Usurp the Lambo’s with the ultimate Monaco conveyance. Draws crowds like nothing else with its impeccable class and diminutive road presence. These are the most desirable of all the 500 variants.
Viewing strictly by London appointment. At £19950 this car represents excellent value for a noted and listed turnkey ex competition but road legal Abarth 595. A much regretted sale as it is should prove to be a robust investment. Find another? That’s how rare these are. Selling simply due to slimming down my collection. I just have too many toys.
