the body is beautifully straight wit. Absolutely no horrible ripples down the sides and the coachwork affords a deep, glossy shine. The underside is like the rock of gibraltar and has been regularly wax-oiled. Even the boot interior is pristine with no nasty rust surprises. Chromework is as new and all the protective rubber side-strips are pristine.
the interior again is as new with no marks. The dials are crisp and the dashboard is in perfect condition with no fading or cracks. The wood veneer is as new. Carpets are also as new and everything in the cabin is just as it should be.
mechanically, the car is truly superb. The engine literally purrs wit. An incredible oil pressure and the mileage is absolutely genuine. The gearbox changes up and down like silk and the kick-down works perfectly too.
steering is positive, precise and still ‘tight’ together wit. An excellent turning circle.
all five tyres are excellent.
finding another 280 sl in this condition would be nigh impossible, and at just £14995 represents outstanding value.
to summarise. This beautiful classic will be easy to use as an everyday car as it’s so reliable and absolutely no problem keeping up with modern traffic; In fact, they probably won’t catch you! You’ll also be able to show it at classic car events too.
