Coloni FC188 Formula-One 2-car package with spares For Sale (1988) | | The Coloni FC188 had been designed for the 1988 season by Enzo Coloni with a Cosworth DFZ engine, which developed into the fitting of the Cosworth DFR for the 1989 season.
During the 1988 season the FC188 was mainly driven by Gabriele Tarquini and in 1989 by Roberto Moreno with some occassional entries for Pierre-Henri Raphanel and Enrico Bertaggia.
Enzo Coloni managed to employ some very noted people in his design and development department and managed
an 8th. place Overall in the 1988 Canadian Grand Prix with Gabriele Tarquini driving as best result with the FC188.
Enzo Coloni still went on in F1 and re-designed his cars and teamed up with a Japanese car-maker, only to retire completely from F1 racing in 1991.
Both FC188 cars were sold and ended up in the private ownership of Italian racing enthusiasts.
Around 2002/2003 the present owner purchased serial-number FC01 and FC02 as well.
The tub of car FC02 still had the original 1989 Canadian Grand Prix scruteneering sticker inside.
In 2004 car FC02 was ground-up restored and race-prepared by a highly reputed Dutch racing specialist.
Then the car was entered for the EuroBoss Historic F1 Series in 2005, 2006, 2007 (only Hockenheim race) and 2008. During a race at Zolder in Belgium the owner met Enzo Coloni and his former chief-mechanic and during that encounter they remarked that the car looked better then it ever did during its actual racing years. Clearly car FC02 did not only look better, but it also performed far better as it finished almost every race that it started and the owner even won the EuroBoss Masters Series overall in 2005 and in 2006.
FC02 had its last complete overhaul in winter 2007 and since then it did only 6 races in the 2008 season.
FC01 has just been ground-up restored in 2009 by the same specialist tuner and it is just finishing its preparation.
Due to the purchase of some more modern single-seaters the owner has now decided to offer his complete Coloni package for sale. That package includes the zero-hours freshly restored FC01 and the well tested and succesfully raced FC02, including a considerable spares package that contains a complete front nose, 2 rear wings, set of new wishbones, various gears, a set of transport wheels, dry-sump tanks, suspension components and miscellaneous small parts.
