As you can see from the pictures, this P6 is in wonderful condition. This is a very early Series 2, so is road tax exempt (first registered October 1972).
The base unit and underside of this car are totally solid, and has been recently re-under-sealed. All the critical areas – base unit, sills, D posts etc are all excellent, with absolutely nothing to worry about at all. All four wings are perfect and rust-free; and may have been replaced at some point. From what I can see it has had two small welded patches done during a pains-taking full restoration and re-paint a few years ago, but other that this it is superb. All drop-glass rubbers have also been professionally replaced, and the screen rubbers are in excellent condition too.
The paintwork is all very good, with only a couple of minor blisters, the worst being on the scuttle at the base of the rear screen (please ask if you want a pic). Other than that, a small blister on the bonnet and at the base of one of the doors; but I’m being very critical here!
As you can see from the pictures, it can be used, shown, and enjoyed straight away. The chrome is all excellent and requires no attention at all. Wheels, tyres and trims are excellent, and all 4 mud-flaps are in place.
The Sandalwood ‘flat-pleat’ leather is all in excellent condition, with no rips, tears or damage at all. The carpets are good, but are non-standard, other than the transmission tunnel front and rear. All trim, door cards and headlining are immaculate. She has never had a hole drilled for an aerial, and whilst no radio fitted, she does have an electronic aerial fitted neatly on the inside edge of the front screen.
She drives as you’d expect for a well-cared for 2000 Automatic, with everything operating as it should; and she starts on the button every time! The auto box and torque converter has just been professionally reconditioned, and comes with 9 months warranty remaining. A full stainless-steel exhaust is fitted.
The car has just been serviced and tuned, including oil/filter, plugs, points, water pump and drive belt. She drives beautifully with a very sweet engine, though is no fire-ball being a 2000 Auto! That said she bounds along, and is a very relaxing car to drive.
The ride is superb, and there is not a clonk or rattle anywhere from the steering or suspension. Everything feels very tight. The brakes are excellent; likewise the handbrake.
The mileage reads 83,000, which I believe to be correct, though there is very little history with her.
So not concours, but a car to be proud of! She is 37 years old! Another P6 project forces a very reluctant sale!
