A really lovely R-R 20/25 four-six seat family/wedding car For Sale (1935) | | | Click here for more info / photos | This splendid car on long chassis number GRF 41 was finally tested at Barker & Co of South Audley Street, W1 on 22nd March 1935 before delivery to its new owner who was a Mrs. Young of London.
The attractive and elegant Barker Pullman coachwork is very roomy and has a pair of nicely concealed fold away seats so you can happily seat four people in the rear (or two people and a baby buggy!) as well as two up front so it will make a really comfortable family car. It also has a big trunk on the back so you have somewhere to put either your luggage or a very substantial picnic! There is a removeable glass division behind the front seat so you can if you wish use the car in chauffeur driven mode which makes it ideal for weddings or any other special occasions - even if you don't do them on a professional basis it could be handy way of getting some income from your hobby whilst being paid to enjoy driving your car.
Its current owner has had a very significant amount of mechanical work carried out in recent years. This was almost exclusively done by Rolls-Royce specialists A & S Engineering of Alton in Hampshire whose work included a complete engine strip down and rebuild and much other mechanical refurbishment. Whoever buys the car will be very pleased that A & S provided a set of very detailed invoices for some quite eye-watering amounts of money though as soon as you drive the car it is obvious that it really is in very good mechanical order.
The paint finish is generally up to a very high standard though there are some blemishes to be found here and there if you look very closely. The rear interior has been retrimmed and is very smart whereas the trim in the front looks to be original and there are some signs of ageing on the door trims and the dashboard polish though all the instruments look very good and appear to function well.
To check out my view of the car I asked an experienced local 20/25 owner to drive it and he pronounced himself to be very impressed which is a rare accolade as normally he restricts himself to describing even very good cars as being "not too bad". I am therefore very happy to have serious potential buyers give the car a thorough check out and test drive it though I should warn you that you are quite likely to want to buy it!
