1964 Chevy Impala SS HardTop - go Yellow w solid Cali car For Sale | | 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS HardTop Coupe For Sale,
- 92K Miles, Cali Car -
We like present a rare and
exceptional rust free example of this southern California 1964
Chevrolet Impala SS 2 door hardtop with it's working odometer showing
only 92K miles and finished in it's original 'Goldwood Yellow' factory
color paint with black SS interior and trim. The SS model was the top
of the line with superior rear axle location with four, rather than
three, links, making it one of the best handling muscle cars and
available only on the top of the line Impala and in 1964 the SS was a
separate line up from the rest. The list of standard equipment on the
'64 SS included leather grained vinyl upholstery, individual front
bucket seats and swirl pattern dashboard and body molding inserts.
There was also a locking center console and red SS emblems all over
the car. The Impala was restyled on the existing GM B platform for
1961.
- The new body styling was more trim and boxy than the 1958-60
models. Sport Coupe models featured a "bubbleback" roof line style for
'61 and a unique model, the 2-door pillared sedan, was available for
1961 only.
- It was rarely ordered and a scarce collectible today. The
rare Super Sport (SS) option debuted for 1961 and was retired in 1968.
The 1962 model featured new "C" pillar styling for all models except
the 4-door hardtop "Sport Sedan." Sport Coupe models now featured the
"convertible roof" styling, shared with other GM "B" full size hardtop
coupes.
- This style proved extremely popular, and contributed to the
desirability of the '62-'64 Impalas as collectibles. This particular
example has no rust, with completely solid and original floor boards
and trunk and a very straight body. It has it's original factory
correct 'Goldwood Yellow' color paint with black interior trim and
seats.
- It is an original SS car and was sold to us with the previous owner
stating that it had it's original 327 engine. Upon closer inspection,
the car seems to indeed have a factory correct 1964 'S' Code 327/4
barrel engine with a Transistor Ignition and which would correctly
match with the car's Powerglide automatic transmission but it should
be noted that for some reason, the car's VIN/chassis numbers are not
visible before the engine code as would be usual (see photos below),
so unfortunately we are unable to confirm if it is the car's original
engine or not. Nevertheless, this car must be seen and driven to be
fully appreciated - the engine is extremely strong and responsive and
sounds absolutely magnificent, the transmission shifts smoothly
through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. The
car's original color re-paint is of a very high quality and in very
fine shape and the body has very few flaws. The original SS interior
is also in exceptional condition throughout. The car has it's original
radio and it's original spare wheel in the trunk. Please also note
that the car has after market 'Boyd Coddington Reverse Rims' and air
shocks with the valve located behind the rear license plate. The
previous owner had the car for over 12 years and had apparently
purchased the car from the original owner. In summary, this is a
wonderful rust free original 1964 original SS Impala coupe muscle car
in turn-key ready daily driving and daily head-turning condition, most
definitely one very collectible and attractive example!
