Austin 7 Swallow saloon SOLD (1930) | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | For sale is my 1930 Austin 7 Swallow saloon. This is a very rare opportunity to buy one of these much sought after attractive little cars - they are rarely advertised. Of about 150 cars on the Swallow Register, it is estimated that less than 50 are now 'on the road'. A lot of cars are now abroad because of the favourable exchange rate.
This is a very complete car, with virtually all the original Swallow features fitted, ie diamond design on door trim panels, wood cappings on doors, wooden dashboard, Swallow radiator cap/mascot, correct 'torpedo' sidelights with 'Swallow' medallions, original door cill plates with 'Coachwork by Swallow, Coventry' on them, smokers hatch, and also the very rare mirror and two powder compacts on the inside of the glovebox.
The car is in very good condition bodywise, but it is NOT concours. The engine was rebuilt by a previous owner and runs well for its size and age - does not burn oil.
The car was first registered on 17/10/1930 in Stoke-on-Trent. It has matching chassis and engine numbers - always a nice thing for the purist - of about 112000, which are correct for the year of manufacture.
Taxed until end of June 2011; MOT until 5th July 2011.
Because of its rarity, it is difficult to put a true price on the car. It has been valued at £12000+, and I have been advised that it could fetch up to £15000 at auction for the 'right buyer'. I am therefore inviting serious five figure offers. The Swallow would also be of interest to Jaguar owners, as the Swallow Side car company eventually became Jaguar in the early 1930's.
