Cherished Stag with original V8 engine SOLD (1974) | | | Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad | This Stag has been owned by me for the last 26 years so I know every nut and bolt.
I brought it out of storage this year as a close friend requested it as her wedding car.
It passed its MOT with no problems and performed well driving 20miles over the North Yorkshire moors and 7 miles through Dalby Forest to where a ceremony took place.
No signs of any smoke from the twin exhausts- according to the engineer who was following the procession. The mileage at present is 66,500mls. 11 months MOT and six months tax. Colour is mimosa yellow.
The car has a manual gearbox with overdrive which makes it more economical – 29mpg on a run.
The car has no overheating issues. The Stag has a kenlow fan fitted and it only came on for a few minutes after climbing the hills. The car has the usual soft top and hardtop.
A complete clutch assembly was fitted last week, new front stainless down pipes and new intermediate pipes as the whole system had to come off. One centre silencer needed a bit of plating and then it was fine.
Lots of history as you can imagine and the engine sounds sweet. A darker mahogany veneer has been used on the centre console which improves the appearance.
The underbody of the car has always been heavily coated in black waxoyl including the engine compartment.
