From 1971, the first 3.0 CSL coupé developed for touring car racing. The name of CSL (Coupe Sport Lightweight) was program, as the lightweight coupe over the 3.0 CS received no increase in performance, but thanks to consistent weight-saving measures empty only 1165 kg weighed by the ultra-rare and highly sought carburetor models were built only 169 copies. This is a BMW 3.0 CSL was admitted as a new car in 1972 on the BMW AG with the label M-AH 1094th The renowned BMW tuner GS (Gerhard Schneider) developed the car further up to a power increase to 230 hp. This GS-CSL was a test car in the BMW Tuner Compare Auto, Motor & Sport in 1972 before it was acquired in 1975 by a private collector. GS CSL developed only 2 cars.
