Fiat 501 Torpedo 4 seat tourer For Sale (1923) | | |
| This rare car was bought as a rolling chassis with the remains of the original body in 1990. Over a 15 year period the car was rebuilt from the ground up and a completely new ash framed body was professionally built, skinned in aluminium, based on the original. All the salvageable body parts were used, such as the scuttle frame, fuel tank and windscreen. The car was put on the road in 2005 and attended the VSCC anniversary rally in Harrogate. Unfortunately other commitments have meant that the car has not been used much since. This is a high quality vintage light car, beautifully engineered and very refined, considered by some as one of the best light cars of its period. The car needs minor finishing, ie the rear seat needs covering (material supplied) and at present there is no hood or tonneau. This is a good opportunity to buy a vintage tourer suitable for family use, at Austin 7 price!
Offered at considerably less than it would cost to restore today. Price includes some useful spares.
