For 1970, the Datsun 2000 was powered by an overhead-cam four-cylinder engine capable of producing 135 horsepower. It was mated to a five-speed manual gearbox that rode on a wheelbase that measured 89.8-inches, the same size of the Datsun 1600. The Datsun 2000 also had similar standard equipment as the Datsun 16000. The Datsun 2000, also known as the SRL311, sold for $3095 in 1970.
The Datsun SRL311 was produced from March of 1967 through 1970. The car helped to enhance the Datsun sports car/racing image. John Morton, Bob Sharp and many others used it in racing. With its low sticker price, the car was a bargain and highly sought after for SCCA racing. With proper tuning, the Datsun 2000 could reach speeds of 120 mph.
