Austin Healey 100/6 'The California' For Sale (1957) | | |
| | http://www.oldtimermanchester.com/details.asp?Auto_ID=374 | Austin Healey 100/6 nicknamed 'The California' as it was re-bodied during the mid '60's in California, where it was sold to new in 1957.
All steel body and has had a full nut & bolt restoration by the leading authority on Austin Healeys John Chatham, whose work in impecable - costing a reported £75,000. Having spoken to him he told me that everything on the car was either new or rebuilt. The shell of the body was acid dipped and electronically coated by Surface Processing Limited.
The engine is a 3000 Mark II balanced with an uprated camshaft and 6 branch manifold. 4 speed gearbox with overdrive, the seats are re-trimmed in leather featuring genuine 100s seats.
LHD.
The car drives perfectly with no rattles, bumps or squeaks.
The pictures dont do this stunning car justice - it is totally unique.
There is speculation that the steel styling of the body was a buck for the Cougar and Monza models, there is also a theory that the car was used in a film with Doris Day and Rock Hudson.
A truly wonderful investment.
