Ford Woodie Woody *** PRICE REDUCTION *** For Sale (1940)
Ever wanted to own an old 40's Woodie but with modern reliability and handling? Well now you can. This Woodie is spectacular. Some have likened them to stock 40's Woodies but on steroids !!
Built by a guy called Richard Tolbert, this was one of two. One Blue, one Red (as seen in pics)
For starters, take a while and look at the pictures. Some of these were taken when Richard took the Woodies to the Easter 2010 MOAB Jeep Safari and promptly blew them all away with their appearance and what they were capable of doing. The woodwork on this vehicle is pure craftsmanship. The use of Alder, Maple and Mahogany is outstanding. The interior roof shot speaks for itself. The hours on woodwork alone runs into the hundreds.
Since being built 18 months ago, it has covered just under over 1000 miles and has been held in a private collection in Utah. Whilst on a recent trip to the States I was fortunate enough to gain permission to view this collection and (with gentle persuasion) managed to prise this beauty from within the owners clutches.
Here's what we're looking at.
The Woodie had been built from the ground up using one ton axles that are linked to the chassis with half ton suspension. The chassis is a GM 4 wheel drive Suburban chassis pushed along the road by a brand new GM 350 TBI crate engine which makes just under 300hp which in turn is linked to a 350 auto box and 208 transfer case.
For all you guys worried about rust...... well the new chassis will probably outlast all of us and the rest of the painted body parts are first grade fibreglass.
