Austin 16/6 Carlton Saloon SOLD (1934) | | |
| | First registered in Edinburgh on 23rd May 1934 and has been with the present owner since 1971.
The car was restored to its present condition (see photographs) over the first 5 years of ownership. It won the best in class at National event and has won many trophies at Scottish rallies over the subsequent years.
The colour is Midnight blue, and although not absolutely original, or in concours, it is in very good condition, runs well and is easy to drive.
The car makes an excellent bridal car due to its cavernous interior, a duty that has been performed many times.
The engine is the 16hp version, a straight 6 cylinder side-valve engine which was professionally overhauled including reground crankshaft, fitted with new white-metal bearings, re-bored and fitted with new pistons; a serviceable 18hp engine is available for fitting or for spares.
Included in the sale are many spares including the engine mentioned above, a gearbox, tyres and many other spare parts too numerous to mention.
The car will be sold with a years MoT.
