We bought this remarkable vehicle for a holiday and a spot of touring. It was brill. We went 4x4 because of where we live, and we also wanted to use it as an overnight camper for the London Olympics, but she is 60 mm too tall for my wife’s underground work car park, where we were going to keep her. We have two other cars already so had to make a decision …….

She’s very sound and very reliable if a little tatty round the edges and touched up in places as you would expect from a genuine but loved 18 year old. Rot free and the interior is very clean, and in good condition with all trim completewith no rips and tears.
Imported to the UK in 2005 via River Side Motor Company in Deeside,she spent a considerable time with one owner in Wales. The Japanese have very stringent controls on their cars so importers only ever pick the ‘cherrys’. She has the original number plates and trim items indicating no involvement in accidents.
Nice JVC CD / Radio with MP3, and a fold out micro television.
Being a camper van my wife made me clean this Delica forensically; I even ‘Miltoned’ it – and it passed muster!
There are several active Owners Clubs with a consequent‘classic following’ with plenty of useful practical tips and hints available online.
She could, if desired, be converted to vegetable oil to improve economy with slight modifications.vegetablediesel.co.uk tells you how to do this.
She starts perfectly, with no smoke and no strange engine or gearbox noises. She uses no oil and hasn't lost a drop of water, and would cruise happily all day. All vital fluids are topped up and clean, as they should be.
No evidence she has been off-roaded or abused in any way.
She’s got a high, stable and clear command driving position – excellent visibility and incredibly easy to park. Look over hedges with ease. I love looking down into Freelanders and Range Rovers - it really annoys their owners!
Very recent set of Nankang 4x4 ‘Mud and Snow’ tyres with full tread circa 5mm. 215/80 r15. Very nice Mitsubishi ‘Tear Drop’ Alloys, restored. Original ‘tear drop’ alloy spare, with Bridgestone All Season tyre with full tread.
Parts are still easily available via various sites and also through Mitsubishi dealers.
Switchable 4 wheel drive inc. 4x4 low and high ratio hill descent gears.
Auto Freewheel hubs work fine to save fuel when in 2x4 mode.
12 volt vehicle, with dual battery system to allow for starting and leisure / camping use.Holdsher charge very well, with 12.79 volts at the terminals.

Maintenance points on this Delica are – rear exhaust pipe section will need repairing as loose, engine temp sender shows low readings, front wiper self-park switch needs checking. Bubbling on roof noted. Very occasional noise from N/S/F roll bar rubbers.
This vehicle does NOT suffer from all the common Delica problems – (which are dampfoot wells, erratic fuel pumps,and sometimes they have overheating problems with water coming out of the header tank under pressure).
The previous owner spilt a bit of paint on the carpet, but this is hidden by one of the sliding seat bases. The carpets are actually really clean for their age.
Mods – the passenger door mirror is wide angle so the previous owner has overlaid a flat mirror over the top which aids visibility considerably when manoeuvring – so I left it on.
A sad sale – she has been so much fun to drive with so much space inside, but we can’t hang onto her.
She has recently passed a search by mycarcheck.com with flying colours, so you can buy in the knowledge she has not been ringed, cloned, scrapped or trashed.
The VIN matches the V5c, which I have in my possession. You can see the report if you wish – she’s absolutely genuine.
It is clear this vehicle has been well maintained with all service jobs done, but the service receipts have not come down to me. I do however have the Handbook, MOT certificates, tax discs and the MOT history from the Department of Transport.
She was converted from kilometres to miles circa 2010,and this is reflected in the MOT certificates, so I think she has only done in the region of 110,000 miles although the recorded mileages on the MOTS were not reduced.(177,000 kilometres on the clock, per the photo).
I also have the original Importation Document and the V948 Number Plate Authorisation Certificate, which will help the new owner’s insurer correctly identify the vehicle.
I do strongly suggest you arrange a viewing, and check with your wife before hand.
