First registered in October 1953 this gracefully restored Jaguar is a beautiful example on an iconic continental tourer. The car has been part of a private collection since 1994, during that time the restoration took place and the many upgrades fitted.
The car's detailed restoration started with the engine being completely rebuilt using all the original components. The engine has also been upgraded with fast road cams, two SU carburettors and the manifold was altered to fit the carbs in the engine bay so's not to alter the bodywork. A new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted, an electric choke a new alternator with high torque and a new starter motor were also fitted. The radiator was upgraded with a Kenlow fan and two pancake air filters to fit the space.
The Chassis was cleaned and checked but not modified. The new five speed Getrag gearbox was fitted with just two small bracket welded in place. No cutting to the chassis means the car's originality remains intact. The suspension was upgraded to Polly bush and telescopic shock absorbers, the front brakes were upgraded to coopercraft and the rear's kept as standard.
The body was taken down to bare metal and sprayed in bright red with a new Monza style fuel filler mounted to the body and modified to suit. A new alloy fuel tank was also fitted and modified to fit the filler and at the front of the car a leather bonnet strap was added. The soft top roof was replaced with a new three part mohair hood, also a custom Toneau cover and hood back were made.
The interior was restored with new black carpets, all new wood interior, modified door trims for map pockets and a new black leather Motolita steering wheel with a slightly smaller diameter for ease and comfort when touring. All of this is sitting on competition chrome wire wheels fitted with Michelin Blockley style tyres.
RTE830 has been beautifully restored and upgraded to make her the perfect car for historic rallying or continental touring. This stunning Jaguar would be a credit to any private collection small or large and certainly a good long term enjoyable investment.
