The MGA replaced the older T-type cars and represented a complete styling break from the older vehicles. The car was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. A total of 101,081 units were sold through the end of production in July 1962, the vast majority of which were exported. Only 5869 cars were sold on the home market, the highest export percentage of any British car. It was replaced by the MG B.
As one of Britain’s iconic sports cars the MG A has become a very desirable car indeed. Delivered new in 1958 this rare garage find is a genuine two owner car. Having spent 39 years with its first owner the car was well cared for and reluctantly sold. The second owner having a passion for MGA’s began refurbishing the little red gem and gave the car a loving home for the next 15 years.
The MG A has seen little use in the past few years and has been under wraps in a garage until recently. It is by no means a concourse winner but it wouldn’t take much at all to have this one in tip top shape and back to its former glory.
A great classic tourer for the Australian summer.
