These all-American V8-powered sports cars are just amazing value, especially when they come with extensive Bauer Millet history and have been cherished from new by effectively just 3 owners in 16 years. Presented in Bright Red with Graphite leather, this immaculate T-top example demonstrates all the best points of owning an American classic. Fabulous looks, amazing sound-track, astonishing performance and surprisingly cheap to purchase and maintain. If you are looking for a new toy that can hit 60mph in just over 5 seconds, want a convertible but need 4 seats: look no further!

The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has iconic status and sits alongside the Chevrolet Camaro and of course, the Ford Mustang, in the all-American hall of dreams. Introduced in 1967 with classic Coke-bottle styling, the formula went through several incarnations before the Fourth Generation was born in 1993 and ran for 9 years. The recipe was always the same: a compact four-seater sports car with a choice of 4, 6 or 8-cylinder engines and naturally, there were some fairly wild variants including NASCAR editions, Ram Air and a V8 Turbo! The Fourth Generation car continued with the aerodynamic shape of its predecessor with pop-up lights and essentially the choice of either a 3.4 litre V6 or 5.7 litre V8 engine, the latter producing 285bhp from 1995 onwards. From 1998 this engine was replaced with the LS1 Corvette aluminium unit boasting a further 20bhp.

Our car was supplied new by specialist importers, Bauer Millet in August 1996 to a pub landlord in Cowbridge, South Wales. A fully loaded example in glorious Bright Red, the first owner traded the car back to Bauer Millet some 2 years later whereupon it was purchased by an advertising executive in West Yorkshire. This gentleman retained to car for the next 11 years, purchasing it from his Company and registering it in his own name in 2001. The Service Book and paperwork documents regular maintenance by Bauer Millet from original purchase to 2006 with 11 stamps and considerable supporting invoices. During this period, most of this work was regular servicing but items of note include water pump, window motors, power steering pump, anti-roll bar, track rod ends and full brake overhaul. From 2005, most of the servicing was undertaken by a specialist in Hebden Bridge who subsequently looked after the car until 2009. This period records a replacement fuel pump as well as new tyres and sundries. In July of that year the car was sold to an enthusiast in Bristol who subsequently commissioned a full gearbox rebuild in January 2011 by Zannetec Motorsports in Pilton and full service in May at a specialist in Bristol. After this date, the car covered very few miles as we understand the owner fell ill and sadly died in the Autumn of 2011.

Since acquiring the car, we have undertaken a small service and just some minor paintwork to bring the car back to Showroom condition. It now presents in all its glory and is stunning throughout. Jump in, turn the key and the V8 sound-track fires into life. Huge amounts of torque propel the car to legal limits in a flash with excellent visibility and a wonderfully light cabin as a result of the easy-to-remove glass Targa tops overhead. It is great fun to drive and very undemanding, whether pottering around town or blasting around the Warminster By-Pass.

With comprehensive history from new, every MOT Certificicate from 1999, full supplying dealer literature including Sales Brochure, Handbook and Warranty Card, it is the real deal.
