Lotus Esprit S4S - immaculate, low mileage For Sale (1995) | | |
| | http://www.hiltonandmoss.com/v/176/lotus-esprit-s4s/1995/esprit/ | Released in 1995, the Esprit S4S sat between the 264bhp Lotus Esprit S4 and the Sport 300. The S4S was designed to drive like a 300 and ride like an S4. No increase from the standard car's 2.2 litres was necessary to find the S4S's extra power; indeed neither was it the case with the Sport 300. Improved gas flow dynamics and enlarged inlet ports and valves are the main cylinder head modifications. A hybrid Garrett AiResearch T3/60 turbocharger and altered management programme endow the engine with even more torque over a wider spread. Of the 290lb ft maximum, 80% is ready to be unleashed by your right foot anywhere between 2500 and 6500rpm.
The S4S takes the Esprit 300's rear wing and wheel arch extentions and gains OZ split rim racing alloy with 245 and 285 section Michelin tyres. Big ventilated discs and calipers were by Brembo and provide all the stopping power needed to haul in 300bhp.
This particular car has been very well looked after, with a full service history and only 4 owners. The paintwork is in superb condition , as is the interior and the car drives very well indeed - no real surpise given the pedigree of the manufacturer and the attention to detail of the last owner. Complete with the original toolkit, this is a very fine example of one of the most iconic British sports cars of all time and with performance to embarrass most modern sports cars (0-60 in 4.6 seconds, 168 mph) this is an ideal late modern classic for alpine assaults and track days.
