LOTUS SEVEN 7 SERIES 2 S2 SOLD (1961) | | |
| | A 1961 Lotus Seven Series 2, in need of full restoration.
Included in the sale will be…
The original chassis, with many original features remaining intact, including the cycle wing brackets, a feature of all pre-1962 chassis. I have removed the aluminium paneling, in order to fully appraise the chassis condition. This can be included if required.
A 1340cc 109E Ford pre-crossflow engine. This is a correct engine for the car and I bought it reportedly in a rebuilt condition. A basic check shows it to be in good fettle but the new owner would need to satisfy themselves as to the internal condition of the unit.
A Standard Ten rear axle. These are increasingly difficult to find. This one is complete and includes the nearly impossible-to-find, handbrake mechanism. Ready for an easy restoration.
Fibreglass set in green. Looks original and easy to repair or replace.
Original S2 windscreen surround, including unique features not found on later cars.
Assorted front upright components. Enough to make up a complete set with some spares left over.
Original seats – probably only good for pattern purposes as the stuffing has deteriorated.
Original hood and boot cover. Again, not in great condition. With rare red piping, an early S2 feature.
Chassis plate – showing an early chassis number, SB10**. I have removed it from the paneling and stored it safely as this is the most valuable part of the car.
I have owned this vehicle for some time now, having repatriated it from an overseas owner a few years ago. I have various other Lotus 7 restorations planned and this one will not be undertaken in the near future, so it’s time to be realistic and to let it go.
I will be most pleased to offer ongoing help and support to the new owner with the restoration if required. Most parts are easily sourced and I will be pleased to advise where to find them.
Further images are available if required.
