To the best of my knowledge this is a very sound and original car with very little welding. The sills and floor look to be original and the structure is very good (photos of underneath available on request). The body is free of dents and has very little rust. She has clearly been resprayed at some point but the paintwork is a bit flaky in places and some of the window seals could do with being replaced. The chrome is all very good considering the age of the car and I have a new original bezel for one of the rear reflectors. The headlining is whole but original and therefore discoloured as one might expect for material nearly 60 years old! The engine, brakes and wiring are all original and in very good condition. She is tax exempt and cheap to run and insure. The tyres, including the spare, are also good. The red interior is excellent and the bespoke carpets are clearly nearly brand new. The Bakelite indicator switch, horn rim and ashtray are all in perfect condition. The original chassis plate is present on the reverse of the drivers sun visor and she comes with a 1954 Service Manual in excellent condition and an original radiator muff!
I bought this car in August 2011 from West Country Classics who are happy to discuss the car if you wish to speak to a professional. She came with a years' Free Historic Road Tax, full MOT and service, and was freshly under-sealed. She is a 110% reliable daily driver and the 803cc engine has never failed to start first time in all conditions. She drives beautifully, brakes squarely and the lights, indicators and wipers are all in good working order. She has also had a new heater fitted.
She will come with a new MOT when sold.
The not-so-good points:
The mileage counter is not working.
The rear windscreen seal is letting in water and needs to be replaced as soon as possible (a new original one is included in the sale).
One of the trafficator lenses is cracked and held together with gaffa tape.
I have recently noticed dampness in the rear passenger foot-well and found a tiny hole under the outer front passenger seat leg support. There is a photo of this and I am assurred it is a very small job to repair.
The tiny dash interior light works but the switch on the driver door has recently stopped operating.
I am assured by three individual professionals that this car is worth at least what I am advertising her for and have therefore been more than honest in my description. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have if you feel I have neglected anything or request further photographic evidence. I have photos of the things that need attention and the underside ready to email.
As of May 2012 I am no longer driving this car on a daily basis as I have purchased a more modern 'daily driver'. She is going into storage but is driven at least once a week to keep her sweet.
