Jaguar D-Type 4.2 Revival 1 OF 12 MADE For Sale (1971) | | |
| Jaguar D-Type Revival were professionally built from parts supplied by the respected replica builders Realm Engineering. Twelve cars were built to competition specification for a race series which ran in 2002 and 2003. Consequently these cars have tremendous performance, but their tractability means that they can be enjoyed as much on the road as on the circuit. The car certainly looks the part but, under the skin, is very different to the original D-types. Revival D-types are very strongly constructed with a Kevlar and glassfibre body on a tubular steel chassis. Both cars use versions of the long-running Jaguar XK engine. Original D-type engines, with triple Weber carbs and dry-sump lubrication, gave about 285bhp. The Revival cars use later 4.2-litre engines giving 305bhp, fitted with Webers and old-style cam covers for that period look. The Revival's independent rear suspension, sourced from the E-type, gives them a handling advantage over the original's unsophisticated beam axle. Revival D-type specifications:-_ 4235cc in-line six, twin overhead cam, triple Weber 45DCOE carburettors, 300bhp @ 5750rpm, 250lbft torque @ 4000rpm; Five-speed manual gearbox; AP ventilated brakes with cross-drilled discs all round; Front wishbones with torsion bars; Rear wishbones, radius arms, twin coil springs; 15in replica Dunlop peg-drive alloy wheels with 215/65x15 tyres; 0-60mph 4.2sec; Top speed 185mph.
