This beautiful recreation of the iconic and game-changing Jaguar C-Type was constructed by Bob Cooper at Autec with a full aluminium body hand crafted by Shapecraft on one of the first phase 2 chassis as a special one off project. The car now has a lovely light patina.
The body is finished in Ecurie Ecosse blue, with hand sprayed old English white roundels and race stripes, hand painted Appleyard-esque registration plates and single full width polycarbonate screen and bullet mirrors to complete the imposing look.
Power comes from the bulletproof 3.8 litre Jaguar engine with 4 speed synchromesh /modified overdrive gearbox. The thick-wall block engine is one of the highlights of this fabulous Jaguar, having been fully rebuilt by Les Trafford at Trafford Motorsport (www.traffordengines.co.uk). C-Type head and manifolds, twin SU 2" carbs with pancake filters, high lift cams and high compression pistons give this car electrifying performance. Recently tuned by Sigma engineering, the engine shows a gutsy 199bhp through the rear wheels. High performance Odyssey battery, hi torque starter motor, manual choke and Kenlow fan with manual override ensure the car starts exactly when you want it to and stays as cool as you like in traffic - I've commuted regularly into Bristol in this beast!
The interior is an extremely accurate representation of the C-Type in both finish and instrumentation. Wood rimmed Motolita wheel. Dials by Smiths Instruments with counter rotational rev counter, correct speedo, oil pressure and temperature, water temperature gauge and dash illumination. Electrical cut out, accurate side and headlight switches including one for the Lucas Centre Headlight. Black leather seats have been stripped back to allow for taller drivers (I am 6'1"). Seat belt bosses fitted.
16" Borrani wire wheels shod with Michelin Pilote X radials, live rear axle and trailing arm suspension with C-type ratio ensure a truly exhilarating and authentic drive. Coilover, adjustable shock absorbers offer total flexibility for either road and track.
The car also comes supplied with a unique windscreen and detachable canvas hood that can be fitted to the car to allow wind-free and easy-conversation touring if required.

There are many C-Type replicas out there but I think this is one of the best. It sounds utterly incredible (and will set off car alarms at 10 paces!), it goes like the clappers and it stops people in their tracks. It really is that good. So why sell such a beast? A new and exciting race project has forced the sale. I'll miss this car more than any other that I've ever owned but the call of the track is just too strong.
