Audi 90 B3 2.2 KV SOLD (1988) | | |
| | The time has come to offer for sale my black 1988 (F) Audi 90 2.2 E.
She is fitted with the 5 cylinder KV engine and 5 speed manual gearbox.
She pulls strongly and smoothly all the way through the rev range with no nasty bangs, rattles, crunches or groans, with no smoke or leaks etc.
Externally she is sound and very smart, especially so when considering her age. There are some tiny age related fine scratches here and there but barely noticeable. A tiny patch of laquer missing on the panel between the boot lid and rear bumper, approximately 1.5” square.
On the drivers’ door the main “bump strip trim” has been damaged on its’ leading edge, nothing too nasty but I have managed to locate and purchase a brand new “original genuine” replacement part, still in its’ Audi package from the 1980’s, this will be supplied gratis, I have not fitted it in fear that my lack of talent may render an extremely rare part useless.
On to the drivers side front wing( o/s) at the very bottom rear section of the panel there is a small piece of trim missing which I have not managed to locate and a small area of paint missing ,but no rust or rot.
Hopefully the photos just about make these points clear.
Interior is the cloth type, see photos again , in superb order ,clean straight barely worn with no cuts, tears etc.
She is equipped with all 4 electric windows which all function correctly, power steering also all good and the manual tilt - slide sunroof which works as it should and is water tight .
There is no stereo fitted but according to the previous owner the speaker system , including the rear parcel shelf mounted personal headphone output, all works beautifully.
Alloys are the original 14” Ronal Aeros with good 195/60/14, all 5 are present and in good order, clean, unkerbed and undamaged but could potentially do with a re-paint as the old paint is starting to look a bit tired here and there.
I bought the car rather impulsively back in January with the intention of fitting my RS wheels and jazzing her up a bit but I decided that the idea was inappropriate as this car was probably best left as a standard clean classic.
So this is where I am now, I prefer the idea of the B4 for my bits of personalising so I am selling the 90 now and then soon the ‘95 v6 coupe , with the hope that I can find a nice clean 5 or 6 cylinder 80 convertible.
With this idea in mind I put both cars in for MOT test last weekend and they both sailed through, with just an advisory on the 90 for the rubber on the n/s/f trank rod end being slightly torn and the same on the coupe o/s , drop link so nothing nasty there.
The 90 is now on sorn and I will be using the coupe as my daily until I am ready to sell her on.
When I first bought the 90 I gave her a set of plugs/leads cap and rotor arm and dropped the oil.
She also required a new ignition switch and the speedo didn’t work.I sourced a new switch and complete binacle of dials and all is now good in that department. (Old unit available as spares if required) Original showing 100k miles, replacement showing 122k miles.
The heater is all good , all electric functions work properly, windows, all fog lamps, wipers headlamps , heated mirrors, etc.
Hopefully I didn’t miss anything relevant, just trying to answer the questions most asked about older cars.
When I first got her home and had replaced switches etc , I treated her to a clay bar, followed by Autoglym polish and Maguires carnuba wax and could not believe what a finish she had.
So onto the price, I don’t have a fixed figure in mind so if I get back what I have put in I would be happy.
She sits on my drive with £50 worth of petrol in the tank ready to take away, depending on your methods ( sorn , no tax ) and brand new MOT.
I offer her at £900 and I am open to sensible , fair offers, everything today has to be negotiable and I am in mind of that. I am advertising this car on 3 Audi enthusiast forums which I am a member of.
I am Stuart, in Ashford , Kent, just 10 minutes from junctions 9 or 10 of the M20 motorway.
Many thanks.
