Lotus Elan S4 Sports - White SOLD (1969) | | |
| | My late father bought this car in 1971 and used it regularly on the road as his main form of transport until around 1990. He loved the cars performance and the handling for which the Lotus Elan is famous and even compares with the cars of today almost 50 years on. After 1990 the car was taken off the road and sat in the garage under a cover until his retirement in 1988, which gave him the time to take it on as a full restoration project. Rebuilding cars was a hobby and a secondary source of income for my father for many years and over his lifetime he worked on hundreds if not thousands of vehicles however this one was his baby and he had no plans to sell it. He performed a total strip and rebuild of the car and the engine which he documented fully. We have a file full of photos and receipts showing all stages of the rebuild. The car has a new chassis, wiring loom, paint job, carpets, rebuilt engine etc this list is endless. Unfortunately as he aged he slowed down and never actually completed the task so the car still has some small faults but is the ideal starting point for an enthusiast who would like to own an A1 mint original example of this classic car. The car starts and runs as it should, the paintwork is bright, it has a reasonably new battery which is kept on a trickle charger, it has an MOT and for the most part everything works. The steering wheel, wooden dashboard and Smith clocks are all original and hence could use reconditioning also at some stage a cover has left some marks on the driver’s door which may or may not T-cut out. This is a genuine original car it has done less than 100 miles since its rebuild and just needs someone to finish it and love it.
