Model History
The Jaguar XJS had the unenviable task of following the 1961 to 1975 E-Type Jaguar that set the standard for luxury sport cars. The 1987 Jaguar XJS is one of the 1975 to 1996 XJS luxury grand tourers. The XJS is more aerodynamic than the E-Types, but earned mediocre reviews for its perceived poor workmanship during the strike-plagued 1970s of the auto industry in England. However, V-12-powered XJS models have since become highly sought collectibles.
Interior & Equipment
The luxury cream leather with contrasting navy piping is all good as are the navy original carpets. The heated seats and electric roof all work as they should, the walnut finish to the dashboard and doors is in excellent order. The digital trip computer works perfectly and music is provided through a high spec Pioneer head unit with a CD multichanger.
Exterior
The dark metallic blue/grey paintwork is excellent all round as is the brightwork. The navy hood and tonneau are also in excellent order. The lines down the car are exellent as you would expect.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
The newly powder coated cross spoke alloys are exceptional and she sits on almost new all matching Pirelli P600 tyres. New brakes and discs have recently been fitted all round.
Engine & Transmission
The 5.3ltr V12 is super smooth and the automatic gearbox operates perfectly. The engine has been very well maintained over the years, the history file details much of this including new radiator, water pump, brake system, etc etc.
Summary
This low mileage, 4 previous owner XJ-S Convertible is excellent throughout and a rare find in this condition. First registered 16th August 1989 by Jaguar Cars Limited, Coventry as a Company Directors Car then sold by Evans Halshaw, Bristol Street, Birmingham 10th October 1990.
The low mileage is supported with every MOT dating back to 1996 when the recorded mileage was 41683.
The history file contains many invoices for servicing and repairs carried out over the years the Jaguar drivers document wallet is all complete with owners handbook, service record even the original Customer Delivery Receipt.
This XJ has recently completed a European trip covering some 1500 miles without any problems what so ever.
