One of only 341 right hand drive examples produced, a rare low mileage, low owner Renault GTA V6 Turbo.
EQUIPMENT
Light weight laminated polyester bodyshell, steel backbone chassis, 45° V6 rear mounted turbo charged engine, integrated front and rear spoilers, electrically assisted release door mechanism, electric front windows, electric door mirrors, remote control central door locking, lockable glove compartment, door pockets, two rear seats, 4 X 20 watts per channel stereo system, graphic equaliser, six speakers, map reading light, leather-bound sports steering wheel, sports seats, turbo boost gauge, driver digital info centre.
EXTERIOR
An early flat bonnet example finished in the optional Supergloss metallic Stratos Blue, (code 436), this sleek sports car looks incredible being one of the most aerodynamic cars of its time with a Cd of 0.28. All decals are present and correct and only a few minor imperfections exist commensurate with the age of the car. Both front headlights have tiny debris collected and one rear lens has minor stress fracture. The polyester bodyshell remains undamaged and the front bumper has been painted due to stone chips, (invoice in the history file). An truly magnificent well preserved GTA.
INTERIOR
Wide opening doors reveals a very driver orientated sports cockpit with many clusters of dials, gauges and displays giving at a glance information. All the electrics work , original Phillips Hi-Fi System, original plip transmitter and even the fragile electrically assisted door release mechanism. The optional Black Leather upholstery is now showing signs of wear on the front seats but are still very presentable and offer comfort and firm lateral support. All the carpets and door trims are clean and original and the isolated engine bay cover has been re- trimmed. A very exclusive and rare environment.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Renault GTA V6 Turbo is a real performance machine, designed and built for driving pleasure. The engine develops 200bhp at 5750rpm and is capable of a top speed of 155mph. Chain driven single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank with a Renix integral electronic injection delivers ample performance at all times. Ready to be supplied to the new owner completely factory standard with a full Renault Service Book of maintenance records, this example is a joy. The 5-speed aluminium gearbox mated to a single dry-plate diaphragm clutch enables a 0.60 sprint of 7 seconds and quiet long distance cruising. It is light in operation.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
With a 40/60 weight distribution and a low centre of gravity this is a finely balanced sports car with outstanding directional stability. Correct and older refurbished V6 Turbo alloy wheels with an emergency 4J 15 steel spare present. New Michelin Pilot SX-GT 195/50 R15 on the front with 225/50 R15 Champino GT rears. Recent brake overhaul at Rogate Renault ensure that the ventilated discs all round stop the car quickly and safely.
HISTORY FILE
This GTA V6 Turbo was supplied new by Radbourne Racing in Wimbledon, one of only a handful of genuine approved Renault Performance Centre’s back in the mid 80's. Costing a staggering £26,010 in 1986 it has a complete history file with reams of invoices and a comprehensively filled Renault Service Book tracking the miles covered and careful maintenance carried out over the last 26 years. This, combined with every MOT certificate from new, leaves no doubt that the mileage of 87,924 is genuine. Having only had three former keepers, the last custodian for thirteen years, this example presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire a rare, unmolested piece of Renault history.
All handbooks contained in the blue Renault holder including the V6 Turbo Owners Manual, Renault Service Book and Renault Delivery Certificate are included. A full set of keys exist which correctly operate all locks along with an operational remote key fob. An original brochure from new is included with the car.
Viewing and test drives highly recommended to appreciate how unique and fascinating this car is. Vehicle will appeal to a Renault enthusiast wanting budget entry to GTA ownership or a modern classic car individual wanting to join a very exclusive and privileged club.
