Ford Escort XR3 Laser II rs amazing shell For Sale (1985)Purchased the car in 2008 with 32000 genuine miles in stunning original condition and only 2 previous owners, to re shell an xr3 in to, the project is complete bar the de chrome of side windows but it looks good so i left it be, very 80s ! Included is all the original laser parts, the rare single bolt strut shell is in stunning original un welded conditon, only non original metal is the 2 front wings which i replaced and removed the door mouldings and decals and had both sides of the car re painted, the rest of the paint is original and glorious, the sills,floor pans, battery and fuse tray,bulkhead,front and rear valance,tailgate,bonnet,roof, are all original and never been welded,all arches have been under sealed and car only driven in nice weather, the car is RUST FREE !!! there can not be many mk3 escort shells left in this stunnng original conditon, along with being a laser II, which in its self is a rare mk3, and the shell condition, make this a rare and very nice example of the mk3 escort ! If you wanted and were a collector, a little bit of work the car could be turned back in to the standard laser base model and would be great to take to shows ! Or with the suspension and it handles very nice and firm and its classic looks, the car would also make a very nice sleeper to put in a cosworth or turbo or modern engine !
Bad points- 2 little chips in the bonnet and a small ding in a screen pillar, that were there when i purchased the car and have been painted over at some point and look ok , last thing i was going to do would be to fix them and re paint the bonnet and roof, but the paint is so nice and they are not really noticable
And the engine sometimes hunts on tickover, carb ajustment is needed and maybe replace a coupe of breather pipes, but i was planning on getting the weber carb and filter thats included, refurbed with new jets etc and put in
5 months tax and 10 months mot, the car is ready to go and be enjoyed.
The car has been garage kept since ive owned it, ive not got a new classic car project taking up the garage space, so sadly the car has to go
