| PRICE DRAMATICALLY REDUCED AS I NEED THE SPACE.
This 1/4 scale scratch built miniature 1973 KENWORTH W900 took 2 years to construct using a single photograph. The only one in existance; I dispose of the hand made drawings and cutting lists upon completion of everything I make. Even when pestered beyond belief I never recreate anything what so ever.
Starting with a 1 x 2 metre of 1.5mm galvanised sheet steel the chassis was formed. Next item of construction was the 8 wheel rear axel assembly which took several months to complete. The I section front axel complete with geaseable king pins was attached to the chassis which produced a rolling chassis. A worm and wormwheel steering box was manufactured and once in place the 3 speed + reverse gear box was positioned along with a reduction shaft to attain the correct gear ratio's. The bonnet and sleeper cab were as the original constructed out of wood and fibre glassed before being dispatched to a profressional bodyshop for painting which cost the earth. The semi trailer is attached to the unit via a king pin and sits on 6 ball roller units which then effortlessly glide on top of the fifth wheel coupling eliminating the need for messy grease. The wooden flooring of the semi is double thickness which adds considerable weight to the semi but benifits by giving strength. A new 6.5 HP Briggs and Stratton key start engine provides more than ample power to the KENWORTH. The 3 speed + reverse gear box has been refirbished; from the gear box drive is taken to a 19:1 differential unit. A conventional pedal layout provides good control of the vehicle; sporting a separate foot brake and hand brake system. Adopting the same voltage as it's big brother the KENWORTH uses 12 volt electrics throughout which comprise of: Electric and cord pull engine starting options. 2 engine cut out systems. A battery isolator. Head lights. Fog lights. Side lights. Indicators. Hazard lights. Electric horn. 4 gets the wax out of your ears air horns with 2 compressors. All 20 wheels and tyres are new (2 spare wheels/tyres. The KENWORTH drives magnificently and give that BIG TRUCK feeling whilst looking down the long bonnet. The twin exhaust stacks are tunes and give a realistic sound.
Total length of unit and semi trailer about 12 foot; (the unit and semi are stored and transported in a weather proof trailer; new tyres and cover on trailer)TRAILER is with the sale of the vehicle. To date the KENWORTH has created a vast amount of interest at each and every event.
