Vauxhall Cavalier Cabriolet For Sale (1987)A great opportunity here, I am moving on to other things carwise and after 12 years of ownership of this cavalier convertible I have decided to sell her to include all the spares that I have built up over 12 years.
The car:
1987 Cavalier convertible, owned by me since April 2000, always garaged during my ownership and only used in the summer, covered very few miles since I have had her and she still has only 69420 on the clock. She has not been used for the last six years, started up and moved around during this time but not seen road use. Last tax disc expired Oct 2006.
During my ownership she has had the following:
New brakes, discs pads and shoes, wheel bearings front and rear, braided brakelines all round, lowered springs and matching shocks, front strutbrace, sportex exhaust, heat wrapped front pipe, aluminium checkerplate sump guard / undertray, K&N cone filter, FSE boost valve (not currently fitted) Kenwood headunit and 6 cd changer with remote control unit, replacement quarter panel speakers and dash speakers, alarm, immobiliser, Nokia phone kit.
She has been utterly reliable, during my use, drives well for one of these.
The photos show the interior with seat covers, I put these on 12 years ago and have never removed them, the seats underneath are original tweed style trim with as far as I remember a little wear to the drivers seat bolster side.
The hood is in fair condition, it all works well and is complete, there are a couple of small marks in the vinyl and there have been a couple of previous repairs to it from underneath, it does have the original headlining inside. The rear window is not torn and is clear.
Body work wise there are a few small marks and dents as you would expect in a 25 year old car, but nothing major. The red paint has had sections resprayed a very long time ago and so is a slightly different shade in places where it has aged differently. In 12 years I have never had it sprayed, welded or anything else, so the car is as honest as it can be. There are one or two tiny bubbles of rust in places, but the rear arches are good and crucially on these the rear chassis legs have never been welded, they are original and solid. The car has never needed welding for MOTduring my ownership, I have waxoyled it and kept it clean and garaged. The paint on the bootlid has micro blisters in it, I always thought about getting it painted, but then after a summers use I put it away again and so I never got round to having it done.
Spares - as you can imagine over 12 years of ownership I have built up a collection of parts and spares and this will all go with the car. To include;
1.8 engine, starter, alternator, injection system ECU, wiring loom, 5 speed gearbox, front legs, calipers, front subframe arms and lower suspension arms, shocks and several sets of springs, new genuine GM clutch kit, new brake pads & discs, oil filters, original airbox x2, K&N filter element, airflow meter, various headlights and indicators some new some used, full dashboard, all dash plastics and centre console, instrument cluster, steering wheel, door handles, seat subframe, steering column adjustable, steering rack, glove box, bonnet, grilles, new and used rear lights, rear light panel, washer bottles, drive shafts, gear change rods, gearlever, rear drums, new unused towbar, brake servo and master cylinder.
Also included is a very rare to find full set of convertible specific side glass, 6 pieces in total, two front quarter lights, two front door glass, two rear quarter glass, none of which is available new as far as I know. I grabbed a spare set years ago and so far have never needed it, but it's a good thing to have for one of these cars.
So really all you need to keep this car on the road well into the future, all the stuff should be here minus the exhaust system to put this car back to standard should you wish.
She went straight through the MOT yesterday, so now has 12 months on her, the only advisory was no rear seat fitted !! I forgot to put it back in as I had removed it to hoover the car thoroughly and stored it in the loft. It is now back in as the photos prove!
I need the space as my classic Mini collection seems to be growing. This is a serious listing, not just to test the water. So dont be scared, come and see her make me an offer. There is no tax on her at the moment she is declared sorn, but I have insurance on her until 10th June so I can tax her for you if it helps at your cost £121 for 6 months. Then you can drive her away. There is various items of paperwork, previous MOTs, parts reciepts etc in a wallet to go with the car.
